Updated 3/2/12
The monsoon trough lies across the north of the continent and will remain across northern Queensland for the weekend. The trough that has been carrying the moisture south from the monsoon, causing heavy rain through into central NSW, is expected to remain stationary until it fills during Saturday. Whilst heavy rain is expected today in the far west, lighter rain is expected in the eastern Downs today (perhaps 10mm)
Rainfall at Dalby and east has been around 10mm in the last 7 days. However, further west the rainfall was much heavier, with 45mm at Brigalow and Drillham and over 200mm at Roma (and west to Charleville), where heavy rain is expected to continue falling today.
