Weather for the weekend of 16 - 17 July 2011

Updated 15/7/2011

A high in Bass Straight is moving east and is expected to be well out into the Tasman by Sunday evening. The high has ridged up the coast only slightly and so the wind will remain mostly easterly over the weekend, bringing some coastal showers with it. A mid level disturbance is however moving east and is approaching south east Queensland this morning. Rain is already falling at Roma (Charleville has recorded 4mm so far) and the National Loop shows several large areas of heavy rain heading towards SE Queensland. NOAA is now predicting 18 mm, mostly falling tonight. The rain periods should clear during Saturday and any coastal showers are unlikely to cross the range.

In the last seven days, there has been no rain on the Downs.
