A trough off eastern Australia will remain largely stationary today as a high pushes into the Bight. This will move slowly east to be centred just east of Bass straight by Sunday evening, with a ridge up the east coast. A weak trough will form behind this, moving into far western Queensland on Sunday but remaining essentially stationary for the rest of the weekend.
Whilst little rain has fallen at McCaffrey Field, there have been some substantial rainfalls in the last seven days across the Downs. Dalby received 20mm but this rises to 30mm at McAllister, 44 at Chinchilla, 65mm at Miles and 110mm at Roma. The countryside is however drying out as the last few days have seen only light showers. At this point NOAA is forecasting possible light showers on Thursday and Tuesday.
Given the number of days in this forecast, the individual soundings are not included.
