Updated 25/3/2011
A high in the Bight is moving very slowly eastwards and is expected to be east of Bass Straight on Sunday night. A trough will develop in far western Queensland late on Saturday, but this will remain in western Queensland through Sunday.
Significant rain fell on the Downs in the last seven days, with Jondaryan receiving 77mm and Dalby 74mm. Rainfall amounts were somewhat lower west of Macalister. However, as there has been little if any rain since Monday, most areas should have dried out on the surface by the weekend. There is no further rain forecast until Monday.
Saturday 26 March 2011
Dalby 29C
Stability A
Convection Dry convection to 8,500ft cloud base 7,000ft
Wind Easterly @ 5 kts
Day conditions
First cloud at 3,000ft with a surface temperature of 22C.
There could be some thin high cloud, but this should not affect convection, but there is a possibility of some over development. There will also be some areas which remain wet and these will suppress convection and create unlandable paddocks. Overall, a good day should result with good cross country soaring conditions.
