The monsoon trough lies around northern Australia, ending in the west with cyclone Bianca and in the east with an ex cyclone well off the coast. This is expected to redevelop in the next 24 hours and move closer to the coast. Meanwhile, a high is tracking through the Bight and a trough lies in western Queensland. The high should be centred in Bass Straight by Friday evening, extending a ridge up the east coast. This will result in on shore winds for the weekend and prevent the inland trough from moving eastwards towards the coast.
There has been some rain on the Downs in the last seven days, with Dalby reporting 2mm. Despite this, it is expected that the surface water will have largely disappeared by the weekend.
